It was great to meet everyone this past week!
Some families need to use a tablet or phone for lessons, and I've found a short instructional video on how to adjust audio settings: https://youtu.be/-1CAwH1uagk?t=53 The steps are supposed to be the same whether you're on an iPad or smartphone.
If you don't see the "original sound" setting, another video I watched suggested that you may need to uninstall the version you have and download a new one. Turning on original sound will allow me to hear dynamics and tone quality much more clearly and provide more effective suggestions.
One of our very own recorded a solo concert instead of a group recital in June. Have a listen at https://myrtlesmusicroom.ca/2020/09/12/an-online-student-concert/I periodically post on topics of interest on my website blog (e.g. research, education, interesting music and videos, studio developments, student recordings). If you don't already follow, it would be great to keep you updated! By clicking "Follow" in the bottom panel at https://myrtlesmusicroom.ca, you'll get posts e-mailed directly.
See you soon!

Zoom has just a released a new version aimed at improving sound quality for sessions that are dependent on better audio transmission!
Before we start our Intro Meetings this week, please go through the following to set up your computer for better sound.
1. Download the latest version of Zoom. It should be the first one on the page, but check the version number, just in case.
2. Once installed, run the program, and go to the Settings icon.
3. Choose Audio and make the following changes:
4. That's it!
When we meet, we'll make sure Original Sound is on and that the volume is set at a good level. We'll also work out the camera positioning.
See you soon!
